Etobicoke Guardian - May 28/97

"Allan Rock, I am a Canadian woman who's family has been broken. We will be in danger for the rest of our lives. You have the authority to authorize the RCMP to investigate.

Why won't you?"

My name is Tami Morrisroe. I need help. I am a 26 year old mother and my family is in the Witness Protection Program because I wasn't able to get Allan Rock and the Department of Justice to listen to me. Three years ago I gave them the name of a convict who claimed he knew a relative of his had paid off many people - including politicians - to frame my father for murder. When Mr. Rock and the Department of Justice did not listen to me I set about collecting more information in an effort to be taken seriously. What I found in the process caused the RCMP to recruit me as an undercover agent for them, and place my family into the Witness Protection Program.

Last month another member of Parliament delivered new information and a formal request personally to Allan Rock asking him to authorize the RCMP to also investigate my father's case and, pending its outcome, transfer my father to safety into the protective custody of the RCMP, (authorization is needed because the original case is in the jurisdiction of the Vancouver City Police who refuse to investigate it.) This request was also supported by NDP Justice critic Chris Axworthy. So far, nothing - not even a reply! I feel betrayed by a Liberal government which claims it cares about people, yet has inaccessible Members of Parliament. Surely, Mr. Rock, one shouldn't have to take out a newspaper ad to ask you for help?
