Police are staying mum on whether a man arrested in Burnaby is being questioned in connection with last September's slaying of five people on a Harris Road farm.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Peter Montague confirmed a Salvatore Ciancio, 34, was arrested in Burnaby on Friday on firearms possession charges but would not connect the arrest to the Morrisroe story.

"We are not saying this is in connection with any media reports involving Tami Morrisroe," Montague said.

Abbotsford Police were non-committal on whether charges were pending in the murders of five people on the Harris Road farm.

"We're not saying whether there will be charges or not," said Abbotsford Police Const. Elly Sawchuk, adding the investigation is on-going.

"We should know in the next few days," she said.

A flurry of media reports have centred on last Wednesday's Province story which detailed Tami Morrisroe's infiltration of the mob in an effort to secure evidence clearing her father Sid of a murder sentence he is currently serving.

In the story Tami claims to have helped the RCMP collect evidence in several other unsolved murders including the murders of Sonto, 56, and Raymond Graves, 70, David Sangha, 37, Teresa, 33 and Daryl Klassen, 30 who were found Sept. 12, 1996 at the Graves' family farm on the corner of Gladwin and Harris roads.

She said the current charges against Ciancio were not in connection to the Harris Road incident.

Regional prosecutor Bob Bonner said Ciancio is facing three charges of possession of an unregistered, restricted firearm and three charges of possession of a firearm while prohibited.

"No comment," was Bonner's response when asked if he was being investigated in connection with the Harris Road case.
